Here's what some of our customers had to say about this course:
“In summer 2014, my wife and I participated in a Three-Sixty OSI Basic Map & Compass Navigation course. This six hour course was hosted at Red Top Mountain State Park in Cartersville, GA. Our instructor, Buck, led our 10 student class throughout one of the park’s standard permanent orienteering courses which consisted of a 12 point navigation plan each point spanned between 100 and 250 meters of one another within different directions over varied terrain. The course consisted of both classroom and field time. We really enjoyed the course and felt like we learned a lot. We really appreciated our instructor’s method of teaching. We found him to be very engaging with each student in the course. We chose Three-Sixty OSI for this course after hearing many great reviews from previous students of this and other courses they teach. Additionally during our research of similar navigation courses taught by other training schools within the area, we quickly realized that none of the other schools we came across have the same robust level of knowledge, teaching expertise and customer service attitude as Three-Sixty OSI’s instructors. My wife really likes that Three-Sixty OSI has lots of experience teaching women, as well as men, advanced techniques which the instructors have learned from their seasoned military experience. This was an important consideration for her as she wanted to make sure that she would feel comfortable, able to understand new topics which she had no prior experience as well as receive consideration for having less physical abilities as male students. My wife was very pleased that Three-Sixty OSI had exceeded all of her expectations within this course. Before the course, we both were clueless how to navigate to safety if we were lost in the woods; however now, we are confident we could do it if we had to. This is actually why we took the course – as a safety precaution to help prevent us from being lost on future family hiking and camping trips. To improve our family safety, we are planning to have our 2 teenagers take this basic course also. Since there is still a lot more we can learn on this topic, we are very interested to continue our education and experience by taking Three-Sixty OSI’s additional level map & compass training courses.“
"I took Three-Sixty Outfitter's Land Navigation with a Map and Compass course and had a great experience. As someone trying to get started in volunteer search and rescue work with no background in land navigation, I knew I needed some instruction. After doing a bit of research I came across Three-Sixty's website and spoke with Buck Freitag about the land navigation class. He was very nice, thorough in explaining what the class consists of, and was very dedicated to finding a class time that would be suitable for my schedule. Once I arrived for the class we found out that the other class members had decided not to attend, leaving me as the only student. Regardless, Buck honored the class pricing and stayed out there to teach me individually instead of cancelling the class. I was very happy with the instruction. Buck was very good about teaching me what I needed to know for the field I am wanting to get into, and started from the basics up, which was perfect because I was clueless about where to start! He even took the time to recommend compass brands and taught me how to use the particular compass I chose. Overall it was a very good class, and I feel like I learned a lot and would certainly recommend Three-Sixty to anyone interested in learning about any of the subjects they teach. Very good resource."
